One more frontliner in Sibu down with Covid-19

KUCHING, Jan 30: Another medical staff in Sibu has been infected with Covid-19.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today reported that there was one case in Sibu which involved a medical staff tested positive for Covid-19 following screening at a healthcare facility in Sibu district.


With one more medical staff infected with Covid-19, the cumulative number of medical staff tested positive for coronavirus has increased to 73 persons.

On Jan 13, State Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing revealed to DayakDaily that there were 13 medical officers in Sibu Hospital who were tested positive for Covid-19.

One week later, Dr Chin disclosed that 20 healthcare providers in Miri Hospital were also infected.

On Jan 25, he added there were a total of 53 medical staff across four major hospitals in Sarawak being infected by coronavirus.

The following day, there were five additional cases of Covid-19 identified among healthcare providers at healthcare facilities across Sarawak. — DayakDaily
