Covid-19 green zones in Sarawak going down to one-digit

KUCHING, Jan 30: Sarawak is now left with only nine green zones as Covid-19 thrashes in yet another two districts, Matu and Daro today.

According to State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement, Matu and Daro have been converted to yellow zones with a total of 13 local cases in the last two weeks.


As Asajaya turned green today, the other day eight green zones remaining are Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Pusa, Saratok, Kabong and Marudi.

In the red zones – Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Beluru, Miri, Sibu and Kuching, SDMC reported an increase of 204 local cases to a cumulative number of 1,920 since yesterday.

Kapit, Sarikei, Subis and Betong which are the orange zones today recorded 114 local cases in the past 14 days.

Aside from Matu and Daro, the other yellow zones namely Lundu, Sebauh, Lawas, Telang Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Bau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Selangau, Samarahan and Sri Aman had a record of 121 local cases in total.

Meanwhile, the committee has announced the expiration of the Mador Cluster in Meradong today after zero local case detected in the last 28 days.

That leaves only 10 active clusters in Sarawak. They are the Tabong Cluster in Bau, Indah Riang, Keranji Tabuan and Stutong Clusters in Kuching, Bedayan Cluster in Serian, Rakut, Jelita and Bah Sayap Clusters in Miri, Bukit Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh and Pasai Cluster in Sibu.

Out of the 10, three clusters had increases in their local cases which are the Tabong, Rakut and Pasai Clusters. There were two new cases in the Tabong Cluster and eight in the Rakut Cluster.

Still the biggest cluster among all, Pasai Cluster found 97 new local cases today where 1,298 more individuals are still awaiting laboratory test results. — DayakDaily
