KUCHING, Dec 18: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for N57 Tellian and newcomer Royston Valentine has won the seat by 4,282 votes with a large majority of 2,917 votes.
His closest rival from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Sait Bin Junaidi, garnered 1,365 votes.
His two other challengers, Arwin Lim Abdullah of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) got 287 votes while Zainuddin Budug of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) received 174 votes.
Arwin and Zainuddin both lost their deposits.
Tellian has a total of 10,059 voters, and today, 61.53 per cent or 6,108 came out to vote in the 12th Sarawak Election.
The former incumbent is Yussibnosh Balo (PBB-Barisan Nasional), who did not seek re-election. — DayakDaily
