Newborn found abandoned behind house in Song

Police personnel rushed to the site to rescue the newborn.

SONG, Nov 18: A 34-year old construction worker and his sister were shocked to find a newborn baby boy behind their family’s home at Jalan Mission today.

Song district police chief, DSP Rowney Michael Jalak said at about 9am, the man’s sister told him that she heard a baby crying about 10 metres away from somewhere behind their house.

“Both went to check and were shocked to find a naked baby boy with his umbilical cord still intact,” Rowney said.

Police, when alerted by the duo about the discovery, rushed to the scene. They later sent the baby to Song Health Clinic for observation.

“We believe that the baby has just been delivered as he was covered with blood and had its umbilical cord,’ he said.

Rowney appealed to eyewitnesses to come to the police station or call 084-777222 to provide information on the case. — DayakDaily
