KUCHING, Jan 27: Newly-minted Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife Toh Puan Sri Fauziah Mohd Sanusi arrived in Kuching at 11am today to a warm reception.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg together with Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki were among those present to welcome their arrival at Kuching International Airport (KIA).
After his arrival, Wan Junaidi and his entourage then proceeded to the Samariang Islamic Cemetery to visit the grave of his late wife Datin Seri Feona Sim @ Norjanah Abdullah.
Following that, he went to Masjid Jamek Kuching to perform Fardu Zohor prayers together with other distinguished guests.
Yesterday (Jan 27), Wan Junaidi was appointed as the 8th Sarawak Governor by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Bilah Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Sha Al-Musta’in Bilah at the Istana Negara.
He assumed the position after 7th Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud stepped down ahead of the expiration of his term. — DayakDaily
