Abang Johari, Uggah receive ‘Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang’ at Saberkas Golden Jubilee Celebration

KUCHING, Jan 27: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was bestowed with the ‘Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang’ award at the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Golden Jubilee Celebration Dinner on Jan 26.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS), Abang Johari, who is also former Saberkas president, has contributed a lot in terms of youth development through various leadership-style programmes, education, sports and culture, including in agriculture and business.

Based on the event media kit from Saberkas, it said that Abang Johari was responsible for introducing the Saberkas Run program which start in 1996, followed by the Saberkas International Run from 1998 to 2004.


“In 2012, the change of Saberkas district to branches was also his initiative to increase the number of youth leaders.

“The amendment of the Constitution (Saberkas) at that time also witnessed many young leaders aged 45 and below, have joined the leadership ranks at the State, branches and unit levels. This is in line with the objective of establishment of Saberkas,” it said.

Apart from that, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is former Saberkas deputy president for 2006-2009 session, also received the award, which was presented to both by Saberkas president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. — DayakDaily
