KUCHING, Sept 28: The opening of Zuellig Pharma’s new distribution centre in Bintawa on Monday (Sept 26) means Sarawak is one step closer towards realising its ‘Sarawak Health Metropolis’ vision.

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the RM10 million dedicated pharmaceutical warehouse is in line with Sarawak’s aspirations to build a better ecosystem for healthcare.

“Let’s build up the ecosystem and make ‘Sarawak Health Metropolis’ vision a reality,” he said in a post on social media yesterday (Sept 27).

Despite Sarawak often being referred to as the ‘jungle of Borneo’ with a small population, he said, there is high demand for healthcare.

The Sarawak government is thus aiming for prosperity in both financial and health aspects by the year 2030, he added.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) became a reality against all odds.

He thus expressed confidence in the realisation of Sarawak’s health aspirations as a key healthcare development area in years to come.

The Zuellig Pharma event was also attended by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, Zuellig Pharma in Malaysia and Brunei Market managing director Louis-Georges Lassonery, Zuellig Pharma director (client and services, experience and digital transformation) Pang Kim Sun, and Zuellig Pharma senior manager (operations KK and KG) Ting Chang Siong. — DayakDaily
