MIRI, Sept 28: A couple from Taman Ceria Bandar Baru Permyjaya Miri are appealing to the public for donations to help fund their three-year-old daughter’s corrective heart surgery which is estimated to cost RM35,000.

Ferrina David, 26, and her husband, Robson Bnedick Grunsin, 29, have a daughter, Rebecca Rayam Robson, who was diagnosed with Supracardiac Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage (TAPVD) and Large Unrestrictive Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) when she was hospitalised for influenza A pneumonia earlier this year from August 4 to 15 at Miri Hospital.

Rebecca has a hole in her heart as well as narrowed blood vessels to her lungs.

“I did not experience any complication during pregnancy,” said Ferrina when met at the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Piasau office here earlier today.

Also present was SUPP Piasau chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.

Ferrina is a full time housewife while her husband is a mechanic with monthly income of RM1,000, meaning they are unable to afford the surgery.

“That is why, today, we approached Datuk Sebastian Ting’s office for help,” she said.

She appealed to the public for donations and help so that her daughter can get back to being healthy and grow up normally.

“We hope to raise RM35,000 to help the child,” said Ting.

Following to Rebecca’s diagnosis, doctors from Miri Hospital referred her to the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.

She is scheduled for admission to IJN in Kuala Lumpur on October 1, 2022 for surgery to correct her underlying heart conditions.

Those who wish to donate may send donations to Sehati Service and Information Centre at 110270010015028 (Alliance Bank) and indicate the patient’s name in the ‘Recipients Reference’ or ‘Other Payment Details’ fields. — DayakDaily
