KUCHING, May 24: Newly-minted Community Communication Department (J-Kom) director-general Mohd Khairuddin Othman led a delegation to pay a courtesy call to Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Having assumed his post on March 1, 2024, Khairuddin replaced Mohammad Agus Yusoff, who resigned in November last year.

Previously, Agus was embroiled in controversy following the circulation of a viral video allegedly featuring him engaged in a sexually explicit conversation with an individual named “Wahab”.

Agus served in the role only from February to November 2023.

Following the courtesy call, Khairuddin briefed the press, stating that both J-KOM and the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) would collaborate to disseminate accurate information and foster a proper understanding of the services provided by the Federal and Sarawak governments.

“J-KOM must understand the reality in Sarawak, and we acknowledge that there are sensitive and beneficial information that we need to convey.

“Therefore, we will take into account the views and advice of (Abang Johari) that we must be mindful of sensitivity issues, especially in Sarawak.

“We will collaborate closely and exchange views with Ukas from time to time,” he said as quoted by Ukas.

Also present during the courtesy call was Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol. – DayakDaily
