KUCHING, Jan 18: An infrastructure and asset monitoring committee is set to be established to scrutinise and address challenges encountered in the performance of road, building, and ferry maintenance.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas emphasised that the committee will also be tasked to produce a comprehensive performance report up to June, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

“The report to be submitted to my Ministry is to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of service providers engaged in road, building, and ferry maintenance.

“Through this committee, we will be able to monitor and evaluate service performance. We will not hesitate to issue warning letters and take drastic action against any contractors found neglectful,” he said when speaking at the State Road Maintenance Gala Night held at a hotel here, on Wednesday (Jan 17).

At the same event, Uggah unveiled the Public Road Intelligence Management System (PRIMS), an application designed to facilitate feedback and foster digital transformation, aimed at enhancing service delivery efficiency in road infrastructure.

The gala dinner featured the recognition of outstanding contributions, with eight awards presented to State road maintenance service providers and Public Works Department (JKR) divisional offices in Sarawak for their exemplary performance in 2022 and 2023.

The seven awards presented to State road maintenance service providers include the Innovation Excellence Award (IT), Innovation Excellence Award (Work), Timely Delivery Award, Safety Excellence Award, Client Satisfaction Award, Corporate Social Responsibility Award, and Best Overall Performance Award.
