New Covid-19 cases push Samarahan into orange zone, Betong back to yellow

KUCHING, Feb 7: Samarahan district was pushed into Covid-19 orange zone status today, with the number of cases reported in the district over the past two weeks totalling 25.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today, there were five new cases reported in the district following screening of individuals identified through active contact tracing to positive Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Betong has been reclassified as a Covid-19 yellow zone from orange as the number of cases in the most recent fortnight has decreased to nine.

The classification of other zones in the state remained the same. Eight districts are classified as green zones.

Nine districts remained red zones with a total of 1,951 cases of local infection in the past 14 days, comprising Lundu, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu.

Kuching, Selangau, Sri Aman, Matu, Bau and Subis were unchanged as orange zones with a total of 159 local transmissions recorded over the past two weeks.

Fifteen other districts maintained their yellow zone status. They are Saratok, Sarikei, Sebauh, Daro, Lawas, Telang Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Simunjan and Lubok Antu with a total of 101 cases in the past fortnight. — DayakDaily
