New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak rebound to 1,165

KUCHING, Oct 13: Sarawak’s new Covid-19 cases rose to 1,165 today after registering 834 cases yesterday.

According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 1.29 per cent of today’s new cases or 15 cases were in Categories Three, Four and Five.

The balance of 98.71 per cent or 1,150 cases were in Categories One and Two.

SDMC said nine Covid-19 patients required breathing support while four patients were intubated.

There were 807 Covid-19 patients who had mild symptoms and 343 Covid-19 patients who were asymptomatic.

With this, the cumulative number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the State has risen to 227,675.

Thirty-nine out of 40 districts reported new Covid-19 cases today compared to 28 yesterday.

Three districts reported triple-digit case counts: Kuching with 257 cases, Miri with 211 cases and Sibu with 128 cases.

The 17 districts reporting double-digit gains comprise Bintulu with 77 cases, Bau (63), Subis (56), Mukah (37), Sarikei (32), Betong (27), Simunjan (25), Serian (24), Kapit (24), Kanowit (24), Saratok (18), Daro (18), Sri Aman (16), Lawas (14), Pakan (13), Samarahan (10) and Matu (10).

There were 19 districts which reported single-digit case counts.

They are Marudi with nine cases, Dalat (9), Limbang (8), Pusa (7), Beluru (7), Meradong (6), Kabong (6), Julau (5), Belaga (4), Song (3), Tatau (3), Sebauh (3), Lundu (2), Lubok Antu (2), Selangau (2), Tebedu (2), Asajaya (1), Telang Usan (1) and Bukit Mabong (1).

On the other hand, 13 new deaths were reported bringing the death toll due to Covid-19 in Sarawak to 1,039.

SDMC also announced the emergence of three new clusters as well as the end of two active clusters.

With this, there are 66 active clusters in Sarawak out of which six active clusters reported 55 new Covid-19 cases today. — DayakDaily
