New Bintulu Covid-19 case breaks Sarawak’s clean streak

KUCHING, July 6: A female student aged 22 who had returned from the United Kingdom tested positive for Covid-19 in Bintulu today.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement, the student had travelled from the United Kingdom to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on July 1 and reached Bintulu on July 3.


With this, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak is now 572 cases.

SDMC also revealed that three Covid-19 patients have been discharged from Bintulu Hospital today, bringing the total to 549 recoveries or 95.98 per cent of total cases recorded.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths in Sarawak remains at 17.

There were 61 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases and one PUI awaiting laboratory results.

On a related issue, SDMC disclosed there were 110 Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) who were checked into hotels across Sarawak for quarantine.

It noted that there is now a total of 663 individuals under quarantine in 12 hotels throughout Sarawak while 17,753 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine. — DayakDaily
