Muhyiddin promises to provide education of developed nations’ standard

KUCHING, Mar 2: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin vowed to improve the quality of education for the sake of the future generations.

“I know that parents in this country wants quality education for their children. Education is very close to my heart.


“With my six years experience heading the Ministry of Education in the past, I promise to work hard and to upgrade the standard of education in Malaysia.

“I will ensure that our children gets the education that is equivalent to the standard of the developed nations,” said the new prime minister in his inaugural speech which was televised live nationwide.

Muhyiddin was the Education Minister from 2009 to 2015.

He admitted that his appointment as the eighth prime minister was not through an election but from the majority support of the MPs. He explained that he was not crazy for power but to put a stop to a political crisis.

He also admitted that there are certain quarters calling him a traitor.

“My action was to save the country from being dragged into a political crisis after a deadlock of choosing between former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when both did not manage to garner the majority support among the MPs,” he said.

He explained that he volunteered himself as one of the candidates to be the prime minister as a mission to save the country which was plagued by political crisis.

Putting politics aside, Muhyiddin promised that he will bring stability and prosperity to the nation where the federal government under his leadership will focus on implementing the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030.

Muhyiddin who has been in politics for more than four decades stressed that he is a prime minister for all Malaysians and he appealed to Malaysians to give him the support to carry out his responsibilities.

He also requested the people to give him some time to outline a clear direction for the country under his administration.

Muhyiddin observed that the rakyat are also longing for quality healthcare at affordable rates. Hence, quality healthcare will also become a priority under his administration.

Moreover, Muhyiddin noted the rakyat yearn for a government which is clean, has integrity and free of corruption. As such, he stressed that he will choose cabinet ministers who have integrity, clean and capable.

Muhyiddin said his administration will continue with efforts to curb corruption practices and abuse of power through the strengthening of enforcement and judiciary.

Understanding that the people want a caring and efficient government that listens to the issues and one that cares about people’s bread and butter, Muhyiddin promised to set up a government that will do just that.— DayakDaily
