KUCHING, May 14: Malaysian Plastic Manufacturers Association (MPMA) Sarawak branch paid a courtesy call to Consul General of The Republic of Indonesia to Sarawak on Tuesday (May 10) to discuss ways to enhance strategic cooperation.
MPMA Sarawak branch chairman Eddie Onn Hoon Wah in a statement today said during the visit, Consul General of The Republic of Indonesia to Sarawak His Excellency Raden Sigit Witjaksono were given an in-depth presentation on its roles and functions, MPMA’s structure, and their current and future initiatives.
According to him, through the courtesy visit, they aim to establish a cordial relationship with the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching, and as part of a regular engagements between MPMA and the Consul General.
“This is especially relevant with the relocation of the new capital from Jakarta to Nusantara, East Kalimantan with the possibility of a working visit to the new capital to get a better understanding of the current needs of the ongoing construction work done,” he said.
Onn reiterated that the visit will also provides both parties an avenue for a fruitful discussion on future collaborations and new initiatives, especially in promoting MPMA members’ various niche plastic products for the Indonesian market.
In this regard, he said, H.E. Raden Sigit Witjaksono informed the MPMA delegate that they will be invited to participate in future events and dialogue organised by the Consulate involving Indonesian government agencies,trade and economic delegates and business association.
“Through this future event and dialogue, H.E Raden hoped that MPMA will gain better knowledge and opportunities in strategic collaborations,” he added. — DayakDaily
