KUCHING, May 25: A 24-year old motorcyclist from Saratok was killed in a fatal accident which occurred along Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa (Tondong) yesterday.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said, in a statement, the incident occurred at 5.30 pm, involving a motorcycle and a sub-compact vehicle.
The deceased has been identified as Douglas Bangga Nair from Rumah Bama Nanga Risau Awik.
“In the incident, the deceased was heading towards Bau from Kuching, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a sub-compact vehicle coming from the opposite direction, when trying to overtake another vehicle which was going the same direction.
“Following the crash, the deceased was confirmed dead at the scene by the responding paramedic team from Bau Hospital, while the driver of the sub-compact vehicle was unharmed,” he said.
Alexson disclosed that the deceased’s body was brought to Bau hospital for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987. -DayakDaily.
