SIBU, Nov 24: A 20-year-old motorcyclist could still give a big smile when the police took a photo of him holding a compound notice for RM1,500 which was issued to him for not wearing a face mask.

Sibu district acting police chief, Supt Collin Babat said in an 11am operation at Jalan Channel yesterday, an integrated standard operating procedure (SOP) monitoring team led by ASP Kushairy Bujang at Jalan Central caught two individuals for violating Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan by not putting on a face mask.

“When asked why they were not wearing face masks, both said it was unnecessary to do so,” he said.

After issuing the compound notice, both were asked to hold it for a photo by the team.

The compounds were issued under Regulation 17 (1) the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 for the offence.

They are to pay the compounds within 14 days at the health department office. — DayakDaily
