Mother’s Day gathering sparks new Jalan Jambusan Cluster in Bau, 17 test positive

KUCHING, May 17: A family gathering to celebrate Mother’s Day at a residence in Bau has sparked a new Covid-10 cluster dubbed the Jalan Jambusan Cluster with 17 cases detected so far.

According to reports from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the Jalan Jambusan cluster in Bau is a community cluster.


Mother’s Day fell on May 9.

SDMC said the family gathering was attended by 26 family members from Bau and Kuching.

In the meantime, a total of 50 individuals related to the cluster have been screened, with 17 testing positive including the index case, 26 testing negative and seven individuals awaiting Covid-19 swab test results.

Meanwhile, SDMC said there were three new Covid-19 clusters identified today.

They are the Jalan Jambusan Cluster in Bau, Stunggang Melayu Cluster in Lundu and Jalan Sultan Tengah Cluster in Kuching.

On another note, the Pasar Ikan Sebiew Cluster in Bintulu has ended.

Currently, there are 83 active clusters in Sarawak.

From this, 11 clusters reported 86 new cases today. — DayakDaily
