KUCHING, May 9: Thirteen more services related to commercial vehicles will be available beginning Monday (May 11), disclosed the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
However, services related to private vehicles will only be resumed at a later date.
The 13 new services include the renewal of motor vehicle road tax for e-hailing, taxis or rental vehicles, as well as renewal of vocational driving licence for these vehicle types.
JPJ will also process transactions related to new commercial vehicle registrations; ownership change of commercial vehicles, and various applications, including for vintage or classic status; commercial vehicle modification and A16 (weight and dimension).
Applications at JPJ headquarters for weight certification; vehicle technical plan; installation of headlights; PE or consultant registration; component type approval and vehicle type approval will also be available.
“Counter operations will only be on working days from 8 am until 3 pm, while transactions after 11 am will be limited to e-payment. The public is encouraged to use e-payment methods (debit or credit card), ” said JPJ in a statement issued on Friday (May 8).
It stressed that the reopening of its services during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period was focused on commercial vehicles in order to support the continuity of economic activities.
Drivers of private vehicles are reminded that they are exempted from renewing their road tax during the CMCO as announced by Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Dr Wee Kah Siong on Mar 24.
The statement added that members of the public are allowed to drive their vehicles even if their motor vehicle licences have expired during the CMCO as long as their vehicle insurance is still valid.—DayakDaily
