Retiree slapped with RM2,000 compound for not wearing face mask in mosque

SIBU, May 29: A retiree has been compounded RM2,000 for not wearing a face mask while inside Masjid An-Nur at Jalan Awang Ramli Amit yesterday.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 68-year-old man was caught for the offence by an Integrated SOP monitoring team led by ASP Kushairy Bujang at about 1.30pm.

The man had violated Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) by not wearing a face mask while in public.

The compound was issued under Regulation 11 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) 1988.

Meanwhile, an eatery outlet operator at Taman Indah, Jalan Teku was also compounded RM1,500 for the same offence while preparing food.

“The 55-year-old woman was caught for the offence yesterday morning,” he said. — DayakDaily
