KUCHING, April 6: The Health Ministry has identified two new Covid-19 clusters, considered large and responsible for 171 positive cases across the country.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the two clusters involved a church gathering in Kuching on Feb 26 and 28, as well as a wedding ceremony at Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, on March 6.

Both gatherings were held before the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).

“There was a church gathering, which contributed to a total 83 people positive so far, with two deaths and 50 treated at hospitals. Another 25 are monitored at quarantine centres.

“Another cluster is a wedding ceremony at Bandar Baru Bangi. This one had a total of 88 positive cases but no death as of today. However, one of the patient is currently in the intensive care unit,” he said at the daily Covid-19 updates press conference today.

Dr Noor Hisham added both clusters have reached the fifth generations of Covid-19 infections.

Meanwhile, he urged the people not to stigmatise patients who were infected from the two clusters because the main point was to trace family members, close contacts and treat them. — DayakDaily
