MIRI, June 22: The private sector plays a crucial role in boosting the tourism sector here, said Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

Speaking to reporters covering his visit to the inflatable water park at Marina Bay this morning, Lee said the fun park was a joint effort by a local firm with a Brunei company, and he hoped to see more of such collaborations to bring the crowd to Miri.

“The city needs fringes of activities to rope in more tourists. I am happy to see such a collaboration (park),” he commented.

Lee reiterated that Miri is actually teeming with tourism potential and “people from Brunei and Kalimantan can come here or Mulu, for example, to explore what we have to offer”.

On Sarawak tourism tagline `More to discover’,  Lee urged tourists to explore and have unforgettable experiences in the Land of the Hornbills. — DayakDaily
