Miri police arrest 5 people for possessing stolen water meters

MIRI, Feb 11: Five people, including a scrap metal dealer, were taken into police custody this morning for possession of stolen water meters.

All suspects, aged aged between 28 to 50, are currently being detained to assist the police investigation into the case, said Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted today.


Two of the suspects were allegedly involved in a series of house break-ins within Permyjaya since October last year.

With the arrests, police believe they have solved at least three house break-in cases and three cases related to stolen water meters in Pujut.

Four of the suspects were detained during a raid today around 9.45am, while the fifth suspect has surrendered himself to the police.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 457 of the Penal Code for house break-in. — DayakDaily
