KUCHING, March 15: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos has urged the public to refrain from panic buying and stocking up of essential goods amid the latest development of the Covid-19 outbreak in Sarawak.

He believed the public should remain calm and rational by following the directive issued by the State Disaster Management Committee with regards to public health.

“While preventing all possible ways of Covid-19 from attacking us, life must not be so abnormal to the point that we get panicky and fearful of everything.

“Signs of abnormality are like panic-buying, avoiding close friends and relatives and not going out of the house at all. This is over-stretching matters out of the fear of Covid-19. No panic and no irrational behaviour,” he said.

Minos, who is a political observer, opined that Sarawakians should remain united in fighting Covid-19 instead of spending time politicking.

He opined that if politicians from both sides of the divide still want to trade words with each other, then they will be seen as fools.

In the meantime, he applauded the state and the federal government’s initiatives to postpone or cancel public functions to stop Covid-19 from spreading.

He noted the state and the federal government had made the right move, informing citizens on how Covid-19 be controlled and prevented. — DayakDaily
