KUCHING, Nov 18: Democratic Action Party (DAP) will pay a heavy price for underestimating Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate in P196 Stampin, opined political pundit Dato Peter Minos.
According to Minos, words and situation on the ground echo support for GPS as the coalition and its candidate Lo Khere Chiang, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, are going all out this time.
“The DAP candidates somehow seem to have slowed down and taken it a bit too lightly and easily. Maybe (they are) too overconfident and thus complacent,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Minos pointed out that winning all 31 seats in the 15th General Election (GE15) will enable GPS to bargain with Kuala Lumpur and Malayans for the benefit of Sarawak.
He explained this is because Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), or Perikatan Nasional (PN) will not and cannot each get the minimum 112 out of 222 seats in this GE15.
He said to form the federal government, each coalition would have to woo GPS, and this is where GPS can get the best and most for Sarawak.
“It is thus vital that Sarawak voters must give all the 31 seats to GPS. Any seat lost is a big loss to Sarawak and a big waste.
“Worst is if any Malaya-based party like DAP n PKR win any seat, for it will use that seat to help the Malayan side,” he said. — DayakDaily
