Minister: Maulidur Rasul can knit interfaith, intercultural harmony

MIRI, 29 Oct: The Maulidur Rasul celebration could be a platform to unite the people, promote harmony and enhance inter-religious ties.

Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah asserted, racial harmony and religious acceptance in Sarawak have always been the pride of its people and wonder of visitors.


“We in Sarawak, have shown and highlighted the concept of harmony in our daily lives, we can live in peace and harmony within a multi-religious and multi-racial society,” he said.

“Hence, this racial and religious harmony must be maintained to ensure that the state and the country continue to prosper in the future.

He further said that the leadership qualities of Prophet Muhammad should be emulated.

“The Prophet’s teachings are very relevant in our country’s context of diverse races, religions, languages and cultures, the Prophet always upheld the principles of fairness and justice based on Allah’s teaching in handling conflicts between various races and devotees,” he said.

Also present at the celebration held at Sarawak Islamic Complex in Miri were Minister of Transport Sarawak Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, Lambir Assemblyman Ripin Lamat and Miri District officer cum the event organising chairman Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf.
