Several Miri roads to close, divert from 6.30am on Aug 25 for Maulidur Rasul

MIRI, Aug 22: Several roads in the city centre will be temporarily closed or diverted on Tuesday (Aug 25) to facilitate the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M celebration and procession.

In a statement today, Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the procession would begin at 7am and is expected to end at 10am, with road closures and diversions starting from 6.30am.

The affected roads are Jalan Merdu, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Merbau, Jalan Merpati and Jalan Kipas.

Among the junctions and routes to be closed or diverted are the Jalan Bintang-Jalan Merdu junction, Jalan Merdu-Jalan Sylvia junction, Jalan Post-Jalan Sylvia junction, Jalan Parry-Jalan Sylvia junction, the Jalan Sylvia and Jalan North Yu Seng traffic lights, junctions along Jalan North Yu Seng, and the Kipas Roundabout towards Jalan Kipas.

The 2km procession will start and end at Dewan Suarah Miri, passing through Jalan Merdu, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Merbau, Jalan North Yu Seng, Jalan Merpati and Jalan Kipas.

Police advised motorists to cooperate with traffic personnel and comply with directions and road signs to ensure the procession proceeds smoothly.

Members of the public are also advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes, including Miri-Pujut Road and Jalan Permaisuri, while avoiding Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Merbau and Jalan North Yu Seng.
