KUCHING, May 21: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak is optimistic about achieving the targeted four million tourist arrivals in Sarawak by October.
In a TVS news report, its minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said this was based on the period from January to April this year, which served as a good benchmark when the number of visitors increased by 25 per cent compared to the same period last year.
“That’s why for this year, I feel we can achieve our target earlier. I project that we can achieve it by October this year,” he said when attending a ceremony here today.
Previously, the ministry projected the arrival of four million tourists in Sarawak with an estimated RM10.19 billion in tourism revenue.
From January to April this year, Sarawak recorded the arrival of 1.62 million tourists and generated approximately RM4.17 billion in tourism receipts. — DayakDaily
