KUCHING, April 3: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has assured that there is no risk of the occurrence of tsunamis in Malaysia following a series of earthquakes that occurred in Taiwan today.
According to MetMalaysia’s Facebook posts, the initial tremor struck at 7.58am with a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale (ML), followed by four subsequent occurrences with the most recent one taking place at 10.14am with a magnitude of 5.6 ML in the district of Hualien on the eastern coast of Taiwan.
However, despite the tremors, Malaysians can rest assured as per a media statement released by MetMalaysia at 8.07am today, which stated that there are no tsunami threats to the country. — DayakDaily
