MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak, notice valid until 5pm (March 31)

KUCHING, March 31: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak this evening.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu), and Mukah.


The warning, issued at 2.25pm today, remains in effect until 5pm.

A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a maximum of six hours per release. — DayakDaily
