MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for Kuching, several areas in Sarawak until 6pm (Apr 28)

KUCHING, April 28: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Sarawak this afternoon.

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan, Sarikei, and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau), and Miri (Miri and Marudi). The warning, issued at 3pm today, remains in effect until 6pm.


“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
