Members of Gang Ako linked to armed robbery and car theft nabbed by police

The suspects are being brought to Miri Central police station (CPS) for questioning.

MIRI, Apr 11: Police in this district on Friday nabbed three men dubbed “Gang Ako” wanted for armed robbery and a spree of car thefts in Batu Niah, since September last year.

The suspects, in their 20s and 30s, were picked up at a hut along Miri-Bintulu road, nearby Simpang Jawa, Batu Niah on Friday evening.

The arrest led by Inspector Fredly Juing was made around 4.44 pm, acting to a tip-off received.


All of the suspects are locals.

Prior to their arrest that day, all three suspects were busy loading oil palm fruits into a four-wheel-drive (4WD), unaware of police approaching the hut.

Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the police also seized a shotgun from the location.

The suspects were believed to have been involved in armed robbery of an estate in Batu Niah in on September 7, 2019.

They were arrested to assist police probe under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang-robbery, Section 4 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 457 of the Pebal Code for breaking into a house to commit burglary. —DayakDaily
