KUCHING, April 16: Sarawakian medical professionals working outside the region have been encouraged to explore the opportunities offered in their profession in Sarawak.
In making the call, Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said there are now more unprecedented changes in Sarawak.
“Sarawak is now actively realising the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, digital economy, and green economy goals. Therefore, more overseas talents are encouraged to return and contribute to Sarawak actively.
“Please constantly keep in touch with and look out for opportunities at home (Sarawak),” he said in a Facebook post after attending the ‘Majlis Sungkei Bersama Premier Abang Jo’ event at a leading hotel in Kuala Lumpur last night (April 15).
Dr Sim, who is the Sarawak Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, shared his personal experiences in his professional opportunities in the region.
He elaborated that after 17 years working in Melbourne (Australia), he returned to Sarawak in 1998, where unexpectedly, in 2001, he was made the founding Head of Cardiology at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
“You will forever be Anak Sarawak, no matter where you are in the world,” he said.
Present at the event were Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib; Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang; Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof; and Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar. — DayakDaily
