Medical and uniformed personnel to get RM300, RM200 respectively as incentive for 6 months

KUCHING, March 23: Medical and uniformed personnel will be given RM300 and RM200 as incentive respectively for six months for their effort in combating Covid-19 from April to September.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today announced an allocation of RM17.35 million for these frontliners who face the risk of direct exposure to Covid-19.

“The Sarawak government would like to honour the personal sacrifice and commitment of the frontliners who are directly exposed to the coronavirus risk while performing their duty in managing the outbreak in Sarawak,” said Abang Johari at a press conference in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.


Under the Sayangku Sarawak Covid-19 financial package, the Sarawak government will provide special monthly incentives for 6 months.

An incentive of RM300 per month will be allocated for 6,232 medical doctors, nurses and personnel who are working tirelessly in hospitals and clinics throughout Sarawak.

The 535 immigration officers manning various entry points throughout Sarawak will be given RM200 each month.

The 3,395 police and state operation room (Bilik Gerakan Negeri) officers who are working around the clock to ensure the safety and security of Sarawakians will also receive RM200 as incentive per month.

The General Armed Forces which consist of 590 personnel manning the borders and those helping the police maintain law and order will also be receiving RM200 as incentive per month for six months.

Meanwhile, the 590 People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel safeguarding the safety and security of various neighbourhoods will also be receiving RM200 per month for six months.

Abang Johari also announced RM1 million had been allocated to provide food to physicians and practices on the front lines of testing, diagnosing, and treating patients at risk of Covid-19.

The amount also includes purchase of food supplies. — DayakDaily
