KUCHING, Aug 30: Miri City Council is holding a campaign to educate the public regarding proper disposal of used facemasks for the safety of all, as well as to protect the environment and wildlife.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said the campaign would benefit everyone, especially residents in Miri, who care about their environment and safety.
“The public are requested to cut off their used facemask before disposing of it to prevent wildlife from getting entangled with it.
“Improper disposal of Facemasks pose a real threat to wildlife, as well as marine life,” he said.
Yii also reminded the public to dispose of their used facemasks properly to avoid spreading the virus.
“Improper disposing of used facemasks in public places such as on the road, outside of an eatery, and in housing areas, could lead to the spread of Covid-19,” he added. — DayakDaily
