KUCHING, Dec 3: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be holding its New Year countdown event either on Chor 7 (Jan 28) or Chor 14 (Feb 4) during the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration next year.
Its mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said this is to avoid clashing with the Sarawak government’s New Year countdown celebration on Dec 31, 2022, which will include a fireworks show at Kuching Waterfront.
“We will do it during Chinese New Year, either on Human Day (Chor 7) or the eve of Chap Goh Mei (Chor 14) because we don’t want to clash with the Sarawak government’s event.
“So, when we fix the date we will make another announcement,” said Wee during his weekly ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session today.
Meanwhile, Wee said at the end of December, he would give out MBKS-made CNY rabbit plushies to his Facebook live audiences like in previous years.
