MBKS receives generous donations for low-income families impacted by Covid-19

KUCHING, Apr 3: A total of RM7,000 cash and 60 packs of essential items were donated generously by a few companies and businesses for the ‘Art For Heart’ project which was held by Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

“To assist the less fortunate whose livelihood is greatly affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) during the Covid-19 Pandemic, many have forward with their humanitarian assistance,” MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said at MBKS headquarters on Friday afternoon.


“In the time of need, Everrise has also sponsored 60 packs of essential goods for the 60 less fortunate tenants of KMC Flats,” he added.

According to Wee, TM Sarawak had also sponsored RM3,500 towards relieving the financial burden of the communities.

“Other generous sponsors are Kirsen Enterprise who sponsored RM3,000, Tan Weng Kean who sponsored RM1,000, Best Respect Sdn Bhd RM1,000 and Chee Yong Company RM2,000,” Wee said.

Meanwhile, a total of RM14,600 was collected by local artist Gerald Goh who offered his art by drawing portraits of the donors who have been donating since last week.

Wee said that all the funds collected will be used to buy necessities and given to the low-income communities under MBKS’ jurisdiction. —DayakDaily
