KUCHING, Feb 3: Traders interested in setting up stalls to sell flowers and gifts for Valentine’s Day can now commence their applications with the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) starting Monday (Feb 5).
Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng announced that application forms will be available at the counters in the MBKS Headquarters.
Given that Valentine’s Day falls on the fifth day of Chinese New Year this year, he reminded traders not to erect their canopies too early.
“There will be designated operation hours for the business, so traders should only put up their canopies at specified trading spots during that timeframe.
“Don’t conveniently take up ‘feng shui’ spots that could become obstacles and cause inconvenience to others, including affecting traffic,” he said during his ShallWeeTalk online session with the community today.
Wee urged traders to adhere to the rules and regulations, cautioning that failure to do so would result in the cancellation and withdrawal of permits.
As such, he appealed for cooperation from traders as he would not want to issue compounds to offenders or those who do not comply with the regulations.
“As Valentine’s Day overlaps with the Chinese New Year, let’s have a joyous celebration,” he added. — DayakDaily
