KUCHING, Feb 4: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng lauds Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) for its efforts in promoting and marketing Sarawak tourism products during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Wee said during the pandemic, STF has worked hard through various initiatives as the tourism sector has been affected where local tourism agents and providers could not operate due to the international and local borders being closed.
“But the tremendous effort and continuous engagement by STF with many parties have slowly helped our Sarawak Tourism to boom again like the old days.
“I always believe the private sector must drive tourism,” he said during the MBKS Chap Goh Mei celebration held at MBKS headquarters today.
Meanwhile, on the Chap Goh Mei celebration, Wee said the year of the Rabbit signifies longevity, peace and prosperity.
These values, he said, are not new, and they represent all the multi-racial communities in Sarawak that the forefathers demonstrated.
He believed that every Sarawakian has inherited these values and wants to use them to help everyone to overcome challenges and uncertainties.
“So let us gallop into the year with confidence and camaraderie. Harmony arises from the ability to appreciate different cultures for their unique beauty. In short, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.
“Continue our effort in unity in diversity and harmony in diversity,” he added. — DayakDaily
