KUCHING, Dec 23: Kuchingites must work together to make sure no one feels being left behind during this Christmas season.

Kuching South City Hall (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said a lot had happened throughout this year where some lost their parents, friends and loved ones.

“But we should work together to make sure everyone would not feel left behind during this festive season,” said Wee at “Giving Love Grateful Heart’s Christmas Celebration” held at The Salvation Army Children’s Home today.

This event was organised by Kuching Love Book Association and the Christmas gifts were sponsored by 38 Food Street.

Wee took the opportunity to remind the public not to create hatred but share their loves as such was fundamental in building up a harmonious and caring society.

“Learn how to love when we are young. Keep up the spirit of a caring society which we have witnessed during this pandemic time.

“We need to work together hand-in-hand to protect our peaceful society which we have inherited from our forefathers so that we may pass it down from one generation to another generation for our beloved Sarawak,” said Wee.

He called on Kuchingites to celebrate the season responsibly.

“Please follow and observe the SOPs (standard operating procedures) while celebrating. Celebration should be among your close family members. Keep your personal hygiene at the highest level during this festive time.  Avoid staying at crowded places too long. Wear your face masks always and keep a safe distance between each other.

“Please be reminded to always check on your friends and family, make sure no one is left behind during this joyous day,” said Wee.

Wee thanked Kuching Love Book Association for organising the event which had brought much cheers to the children while at the same time, providing the opportunity for him to spend time with them.

Wee also expressed gratitude to 38 Food Street for sponsoring the event which to him was one of the ways big business can give back to the society especially the children.— DayakDaily
