MBKS mayor advocates for people-to-people exchanges between Kuching South, Quanzhou

KUCHING, Oct 18: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has embarked on a bilateral visit to Quanzhou in Fujian Province, China at the invitation of the mayor of Quanzhou, Cai Zhan Sheng, and as a gesture of reciprocity following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to a press release, during a courtesy call to the mayor of Quanzhou, Cai Zhan Sheng, Wee and Cai expressed their mutual desire for both cities to maintain regular exchanges in areas such as culture, business, education, and youth engagement to further strengthen the bond of friendship between the two cities in the future.

“As part of the visit, Quanzhou City also arranged for the Kuching South delegate to visit Nan’an City. The delegation was welcomed by the representative of Nan’an County and briefed on the historical attractions in which more than four million overseas Chinese trace their ancestry there.


“Dato Wee proposed to Cai to engage people-to-people exchanges in which Kuching South and Quanzhou would support the exchanges between the Chinese communities and associations in both cities,” it said. — DayakDaily
