MBKS continues tradition of distributing 700 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ to celebrate Ramadan

KUCHING, March 7: n the spirit of Ramadan, the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) distributed 700 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ at the Stutong Ramadan Bazaar today, continuing its annual tradition of fostering community spirit through charitable activities.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng were present at the event, which saw a large crowd braving the rain to visit the bustling bazaar and purchase food ahead of the breaking of fast.

‘Bubur lambuk,’ a traditional Malay rice porridge infused with aromatic spices, holds a special place during Ramadan, symbolising generosity and communal sharing.

This beloved dish is enjoyed by Sarawakians of all backgrounds, reflecting the region’s rich culinary heritage.

The Stutong Ramadan Bazaar is one of Kuching’s most anticipated annual events, drawing food lovers to explore its 160 vibrant stalls offering an extensive array of mouth-watering delicacies.

Visitors can savour a diverse selection of dishes, from savoury Malay favourites like Nasi Ayam Penyet, fragrant Briyani, nasi lemak, roti jala, and soto ayam to Sarawak’s signature Kolo Mee.

Succulent barbecued delights such as satay and grilled fish, crispy deep-fried treats like ayam goreng and seafood, as well as an assortment of traditional kuih-muih—including kuih bongkol, apam balik, crispy popia, golden-brown chakoi, and cakes—add to the feast. Refreshing, colourful beverages complete the gastronomic experience.
