Maybank Sibu branch staff exposed to Covid-19 patient

KUCHING, March 15: An employee of a bank in Sibu is believed to have been exposed to a novel coronavirus (Covid-19) positive individual.

According to TV Sarawak today, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) in a notice revealed one of its Sibu branch employee was exposed to an external person who tested positive for Covid-19.

As a result, the bank’s Sibu Central branch is closed for business for two days from today until tomorrow to undergo a thorough deep-cleaning and sanitisation process as part of preventive measures.

The employees at the branch have been put on home leave while awaiting the completion of the sanitisation process.

Bank customers are advised to perform their banking transactions through online and mobile banking channels or at any other Maybank branch.

“We are working closely with the relevant health authorities to ensure that all health and safety protocols are adhered to.

“Please be assured that our business continuity plan is sound.

“We continue to remind all Maybankers to be guided by all the precautionary and hygiene measures that we have put out and wish to reassure that our standard procedures are clear and strict.

“We will continue to ensure that we are ahead of developments and staff are kept current via our Internal Staff Advisory released daily,” according to the notice, a photo of which was uploaded by TV Sarawak.

Maybank also revealed that Sibu Central branch will reopen for business on Wednesday (March 18). — DayakDaily
