KUCHING, Nov 27: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail is confident that the new Sarawak Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali would help to eradicate and reduce crime rates in the state.
According to Aidi, Mat Zani’s experience and knowledge throughout his service would provide an advantage for him in carrying out the new task.
“Surely, his performance, ability and capability have been recognised by the top leadership, to lead the Sarawak CID.
“I am confident that Mat Zani will be able to carry out his duties as a good Sarawak CID chief based on his career’s experiences before this,” he said when witnessing the handing over of duty between Sarawak CID acting chief ACP Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali and Mat Zani at the officer’s mess hall in Sarawak Police Contingent headquarters here today.
Earlier on Mat Zani assured that he will do his best for the people of Sarawak and for Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as the new Sarawak CID chief.
“Looking at the crime index for Sarawak contingent, it is about 40 cases on average, daily. But I believe that this index cases can be reduced with the cooperation from all departments.
“I also hoped that all the heads of department for Sarawak contingent would also give their cooperation to me, as what has been given to the previous CID chief,” he added.
Mat Zani previously served as Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department deputy director (Enforcement/Prevention/General Policing). –DayakDaily.
