KUCHING, March 30: Sri Aman Member of Parliament Datuk Masir Kujat has quit Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) with immediate effect.

Masir in a statement said he made the decision due to political instability in Malaysia which clearly affects the country’s economy, development and people’s wellbeing.

“This decision was made after discussions with grassroot supporters in my area. I believe the best way to move forward is to put aside politics at this moment in order to help stabilise and rebuild our beloved country.

“Our Prime Minister Datuk Sri Ismail Sabri Yakoob (sic) is doing everything he can to help Malaysians pull through this difficult period and I will play my part by fully supporting his leadership,” he asserted.

Masir was a member of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) from 2008 to 2019. In March 2019, he joined PSB and was a presidential council member.

He stood in 2021 Sarawak election as PSB’s Balai Ringin candidate. However, he lost to incumbent Datuk Snowdan Lawan after garnering 3,351 votes in a three-cornered fight.

Snowdan defended his seat with 4,816 votes while Kaim Mana from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) managed to garner 195 votes. — DayakDaily
