Sarawak Commissioner of Police Dato Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the victim who is in his 40s lodged a police report regarding the crime, yesterday (Oct 28).
According to the victim, he was attracted to an advertisement titled ‘HY Your Investing Friend Pembelajaran Stok Market’ while browsing through Facebook mid-September.
From there, the victim’s handphone number was added into a WhatsApp group called ‘Stock Exchange Group’ where he supposedly was taught about investing in the stock market by an individual named Jerry who claimed that he wad a manager at a financial company offering the investment scheme.
The victim then attempted to make an investment through a website and made five bank transactions totalling about RM160,000 to two bank accounts with different company names this month.
