Man suspected of breaking ambulance windshield tests positive for drugs

SIBU, March 26: Police arrested a man suspecting of breaking the windshield of an ambulance yesterday.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that at 12.21pm yesterday, a police report was lodged regarding the incident.


“A local male complainant said that at 12 noon, an unknown man came to his vehicle air conditioning repair shop and struck the ambulance using a ‘kwan tao’-type machete,” he said.

Subsequently, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD) arrested a local male suspect, 43, at about 2pm to assist in the investigation.

The police seized a kerambit (curved knife) and the ‘kwan tao’ from the suspect.

Zulkipli also said that the suspect’s initial urine screening test returned positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code. If convicted, the suspect faces jail for a period of up to two years, or a fine, or both. — DayakDaily
