KANOWIT, Jan 21: The unidentified man who has been climbing up and down the 400m Telekom tower at Memaloh Hill since yesterday morning has agreed to allow only one person to climb up the tower.

As at 10.28am, the man was at a height of 100m and a policeman was allowed to climb up and persuade him to come down.

Over the last 24 hours, the man has thrown small objects such as stones and screws at firefighters attempting to climb up.

Kanowit fire station chief Arrahman Chik said as at 9.30am today, he was still up there at a height of about 60m.

“Each time our men tried to convince him to climb down, he would do so to about 45m in height but after that, he would go up again. This has been happening several times,” Arrahman said.

They received an emergency call from police at 8.20am yesterday, asking firefighters to help coax the man into coming down.—DayakDaily
