Man sentenced to 8 months’ jail for criminal intimidation

KUCHING, May 30: For threatening to kill his sister’s children and setting her property ablaze, Muhammad Norhafiz Ismail was today put behind bars for 8 months.

Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof meted out the sentence after the 33-year-old accused pleaded guilty to committing criminal intimidation by threatening his sister Nur Hafiza Ismail at Kampung Samariang Baru at about 10.30pm on May 25 this year.


The imprisonment term is to start from May 26, the date of arrest.

Muhammad was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 2 years or with fine or with both, if convicted.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Muzaffar Shah Ibrahim prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
