KUCHING, March 7: An unemployed man claimed trial to a charge of cheating and a charge of forging a pay slip to borrow money from a money lending company.

Jonathan Tibu Abit, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charges framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code and Section 471 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi fixed April 19 for pre-trial case management.

Jonathan was charged with using a forged pay slip to apply for a RM5,000 loan from a local money lending company on December 1, 2020 where he promised to repay the loan by installments.

However, the accused only repaid RM460 to the said company and until January 15, 2021, the accused had failed to repay the company.

The money lending company called the man’s alleged employer as listed on the pay slip and was told that the accused had never worked there. The money lending company realised that the pay slip provided by the accused was a forged document.

A police report was subsequently made. ā€” DayakDaily
